Applebee's thrives as consumers come back out to dine


Pent-up demand for dining out and socializing bodes well for the future of casual dining concepts, Applebee's President John Cywinski said. March and April brought strong performance at the chain's 1,600 restaurants as customers stayed longer, tipped more generously and had higher average checks, thanks to the addition of alcohol, appetizers and desserts, Cywinski said.
