Will Comcast win the lobbying game for TWC deal?
Comcast is facing strong scrutiny for its proposed $45 billion merger with Time Warner Cable in its home state of Pennsylvania, as well as in Florida, California and other states. But the cable giant's sizable footprint "gives them the ability to make arguments about their position in the economy, the number of jobs they have, the taxes they pay, what their future plans are," according to Edwin Bender, executive director of the National Institute on Money in State Politics. In related news, the Writers Guild of America has released a report detailing the "harm" the merger would cause and asking federal regulators to deny approval. Politico (Washington, D.C.)
