Best Buy is forecasting a strong holiday season after a better-than-expected third quarter, fueled by features including free next-day delivery and expansion into new product and service categories. The retailer raised its full-year guidance after reporting a 2% third-quarter same-store sales increase.

Sneaker comes to life in Dick's ad; sales see strong gains
Dick's Sporting Goods has launched a 90-second spot called "The New Kid" that uses CGI live-action technology to bring a new sneaker and the rest of the store's inventory to life after hours. The retailer raised its forecast after reporting its strongest quarterly revenue gains in six years.

Publix announced it will donate $2 billion in food over the next 10 years as part of its food-recovery program that goes to more than 100 Feeding America food banks and other nonprofits. Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is continuing its four-year partnership with Vitamin Angels, which supplies vitamins to pregnant women and children worldwide, by asking customers to round their purchases up to the next dollar.

The cost of a Thanksgiving turkey dinner has held steady from last year, rising just one cent to $48.91 for 10 people, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation. Prices for stuffing, turkey and pumpkin pie mix dipped slightly from last year, while items including rolls, sweet potatoes and milk saw prices increase.

Cracker Barrel moves forward with Maple Street growth plan
Cracker Barrel will convert six units of the Holler & Dash fast-casual concept it created in 2016 to Maple Street Biscuit restaurants by next spring. Cracker Barrel, which paid $36 million for the 33-unit Maple Street Biscuit chain in October, will also open one new Maple Street eatery.
