U.S. manufacturing growth down but still robust
U.S. manufacturing gains eased in January after hitting an 11-month high in December, with the Markit purchasing managers index falling to 53.7 from 55.0. Although export orders were down, "the rate of job creation remained solid and was only slightly less marked than December's recent high," Markit noted, with the increased employment pointing to "rising production requirements."
