Hospital residencies help new RNs handle stress
More hospitals are offering programs and residencies to help new nurses deal with the stress of patient care to reduce turnover and keep staff levels intact. Many programs pair new nurses with veteran staff members who can mentor them in their first few months on the job. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing also is considering a standardized transition program.
