Survey: Mother's Day spending will increase 10% this year
Mother's Day celebrants are expected to spend $163 on average this year, a 10% increase compared with 2011, totaling nearly $17.2 billion, according to a Brand Keys survey. While shoppers last year favored technology gifts such as e-readers and smartphones, "this year, they're going with more traditional gifts, including cards, brunch or dinner, flowers, jewelry and clothing," said founder and President Robert Passikoff.
