Starwood Hotels & Resorts is looking to open 30 new hotels in the Middle East in the next two to three years, said Roeland Vos, president of Starwood's Europe, Middle East and Africa division. "So that means we're going to have 60% growth in the region, and that surprises a lot of people. All of these are in the upper-scale luxury space," Vos said. The hotelier will mostly be focusing on its W and St. Regis brands in the expansion.
