The chemical industry saw an encouraging pickup in demand across end-use markets in the first six months of 2014, and it is expected to continue for the rest of the year and into the next. The American Chemistry Council foresees a 2.5% increase in the U.S. chemical output this year and a 3.5% increase in 2015.
