Overweight, obese youths face greater risk for gallstones
Data from health records of more than 510,000 10- to 19-year-olds revealed that those who were overweight or obese had a significantly greater risk for developing gallstones than their normal-weight peers. The association between obesity and gallstones was more pronounced among girls than boys, researchers reported in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
