Cancer patients seldom report care problems, survey shows
Few cancer patients reported problems with their doctor or nurse, whether communication-related or medical, according to a study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Researchers conducted a telephone interview with 416 patients with breast or colon cancer and found that 93 of them said they experienced a preventable or harmful event. Of the patients who completed interviews, a third said they spoke with their care provider about the problem, and 10 reported it to hospital administrators.
