IEA slashes global oil demand growth forecast for 2014
The International Energy Agency on Aug. 12 lowered its global oil demand growth forecast for this year by 180,000 barrels per day to 1 million barrels per day, citing a decrease in macroeconomic outlook and demand growth recorded at the lowest level in over two years. Demand is expected to rise by 1.3 million barrels per day in 2015, 90,000 barrels per day lower than the previous estimate, amid improvement in the global economy, the agency said.
