    Harvard's new MyDataCan health record bank will enable the secure sharing of individual electronic records as well as collection of population data for research on public health, writes Dr. William Yasnoff, president of the Health Record Banking Alliance. The Data Privacy Lab will introduce the free record bank soon. Yasnoff likens its business model to a smartphone's app store: The Data Privacy Lab expects many applications to be available, some free and some for a modest fee, and a small percentage of payments will go toward maintaining the project.   • Health groups realize HIPAA 5010 benefits despite problems
    The industry is making strides in the HIPAA 5010 conversion despite glitches that led the CMS to push back the compliance date to June 30, writes Debbi Meisner, a member of the board of directors at EHNAC and WEDI.   • HIT policy group to include clinical quality standards in stage 2 MU
    An HIT Policy Committee work group met Monday to discuss how best to integrate clinical quality measures into the second stage of EHR meaningful use criteria. One option considered would allow eligible providers to choose 12 out of 125 proposed measures, with at least one standard addressing each of the six domains for care improvement.
