Green Mountain named top coffee brand
Green Mountain Coffee was named the top coffee brand of the year in the 2012 Harris Poll EquiTrend survey from Harris Interactive. In other results, Coca-Cola was the top soft drink brand, Gatorade was the top sports drink brand, Yuengling Traditional Lager took first place among beer brands, and Lipton Tea ranked first for both hot and iced tea. PepsiCo renews deal with India's PVR multiplex chain
PepsiCo India will remain the official beverage supplier of PVR multiplexes in 22 cities under a renewed deal extending the relationship for five more years. "Over the last 15 years, the partnership has evolved from a traditional supplier relationship to include marketing programs such as the Cricket World Cup," PepsiCo said. Price is top factor in deciding where to shop, study finds
In a study by The NPD Group, more than 80% of shoppers in all age and income brackets said price is an extremely important or important consideration when choosing a place to shop. Consumers can "compare prices on the Web while at home or while standing in a brick-and-mortar store with their smartphones," said John Deputato, senior vice president of advanced analytics. Fewer Americans have high cholesterol despite obesity
CDC officials reported that despite a continued rise in obesity rates, only 13.4% of U.S. adults between 2009 and 2010 had high total cholesterol levels, compared with 18.3% of adults 10 years earlier. Increasing use of cholesterol-lowering drugs played a significant role in reducing cholesterol levels, but other factors, such as reduced smoking rates, also contributed to the decline, experts said. Coca-Cola is working with the television show "Antiques Roadshow" in a search for three Norman Rockwell paintings worth an estimated $1.5 million. Rockwell created the paintings, which show people enjoying Coke, for company calendars and billboards. One appraiser valued the paintings at up to $500,000 each.
