Honeywell signs equipment deal with Cessna
Honeywell has signed an $800 million equipment deal with Cessna to provide navigation, communication and environmental control systems for the new Citation Latitude and Citation Longitude aircraft. Among the equipment to be included are high-frequency radios, LASEREF VI inertial reference navigation systems and the RE100 auxiliary power unit for the Latitude. Canadians complete first civilian flight on 100% biofuel
The Canadian National Research Council conducted what may be the world's first civilian flight using pure biofuel on Oct. 29, calling it a "historic milestone for the aviation and sustainable energy industries." Honor Flight thanks World War II vets

Procedures are canceled at some airports to cut costs
In an effort to cut costs, the Federal Aviation Administration plans to announce a program to cancel approaches at some airports where they are rarely used. According to the FAA, criteria for the cancellations will be developed by the end of the year. AVweb (11/4)

Neb. hospital upgrades its helicopter

LightSquared is not grounded for good
Despite the February withdrawal of the company's operating licenses by the Federal Communications Commission, LightSquared is ready to move forward with new plans. Owner Philip Falcone has apparently alleviated the concerns of his investors, who were attempting to break reorganization protection granted to the company after declaring bankruptcy in May in order to recover some $1.4 billion that had been invested.
