Espionage claims are "unsubstantiated," Huawei and ZTE execs say
Allegations that their companies are closely tied to China's government were denied by executives of Huawei Technologies and ZTE at a public hearing conducted Thursday by the House Intelligence Committee. "It would be immensely foolish for Huawei to risk involvement in national security or economic espionage," said Charles Ding, corporate senior vice president of Huawei. "Let me be clear, Huawei has not and will not jeopardize our global commercial success nor the integrity of our customers' network for any third party, government or otherwise, ever." The Hill (9/13)

Intel shows how WiGig may speed Wi-Fi nets tenfold
Intel on Thursday unveiled what it called the wireless technology of the future, Wireless Gigabit docking, which the chipmaker said would deliver speeds over Wi-Fi networks of up to 7 gigabits per second, 10 times the current maximum. Intel also said this week that its smartphone chips now support Android 4.1 -- also known as Jelly Bean -- although the company declined to say when the hardware would actually reach the handsets.
