Senate confirms Huerta as FAA administrator
The Senate confirmed acting administrator Michael Huerta's nomination to the top Federal Aviation Administration post on Tuesday. Various organizations released statements reacting positively to the news. "We thank the Senate for working to confirm Mr. Huerta. He has demonstrated strong leadership and sharp focus in collaborating with air traffic controllers and all aviation safety professionals to improve the safety of U.S. aviation," said Paul Rinaldi, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association . Aviation archaeologists set to begin recovery of buried Spitfires
Work is set to begin Jan. 12 to recover what could be three dozen Supermarine Spitfires that were buried in Burma near the end of World War II, according to British researcher David Cundall. The planes are approximately 30 feet underground inside crates that were sealed with tar and supported by teak timbers. Flying online (12/27)

Bombardier caps year with business-jet sales
