Peru starts from scratch with network of private schools
The US design firm Ideo designed a network of affordable private schools in Peru -- building classrooms, curricula, business practices and a framework for teacher training. What is the definition of a teacher's best lesson?
Identifying a best lesson would depend on the criteria used, educator Matt Dix writes in this blog post. After six years of teaching at a junior high school in the UK, Dix writes that some lessons were impressive by government standards and others were enjoyed by students. Australian state weighs safety, students' privacy
New South Wales, Australia, has adopted a privacy manual for independent schools that treats school counsellors' files the same as other records -- giving principals access to students' once-protected records. However, the Australian Psychological Society is questioning the policy, saying that students may be less likely to seek counsellors' help if they feel that principals will access their records. Schools in England to prioritise coding lessons
England's schools are experiencing a revolution in ICT education, with the launch of a new mandate for all primary schoolchildren in the country to learn computer coding at as young as 5 years old. At one school, coding lessons are integrated into other subjects, such as assigning an animation project for lessons on India and Indian culture.
