  • Marathon Petroleum settles emissions dispute with EPA
    Marathon Petroleum reached a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency over a refinery-emissions dispute. Under the terms, the company will reduce the flaring of excess natural gas from its plants and improve its combustion efficiency. "By spurring corporate ingenuity, this settlement will dramatically reduce emissions from all 22 flares at Marathon's six refineries," said Assistant Attorney General Ignacia Moreno of the Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division.
