Carlson Rezidor eyes better reviews with Radisson makeovers
Minnesota-based Carlson has teamed up with Belgian sister company Rezidor Hotel Group to give Radisson's reputation and price points a boost. The partners are about three years into a five-year plan to upgrade about 150 Radisson sites in North America, and each hotel will get about $10 million of upgrades. In the past three years, upgraded hotel properties have seen an 8.9% increase in revenue per available room. Travel Weekly (3/27)

Hilton targets Europe, Middle East and Africa for growth
Hilton Worldwide is looking to expand its portfolio in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as the investment climate there continues to improve, says Simon Vincent, Hilton's president in the region. "We've got 190 hotels (and more than 43,000 rooms) in our pipeline. That's indicative of a pretty healthy environment and appetite that is out there right now," Vincent said. Hilton is actively seeking conversion prospects in established markets such as the U.K. while driving its growth in emerging markets through new build projects, Vincent says. (3/27)

Starwood unveils renovation plans for Mideast Le Méridien hotels
