  • Report shows new interest in video among users, marketers
    Newspaper websites in the second quarter tallied a 65% increase in video viewing that was fueled in part by concerns over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Brightcove and TubeMogul are reporting. The number of users who screened video clips on all sites during the period also increased on average by 2.8% a month and the number of clips went up 11%. Meanwhile, six in 10 brand managers intend to boost spending for online video over the next 12 months, and seven in 10 will include mobile video in their marketing plans.   • Demand for cell phone apps is low
    Just one-third of adults has a mobile phone with apps, according to a report from The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project and The Nielsen Co.   • North America is slipping as world's top ad market
    North America's dominance of the global advertising market will begin to slip during the next four years, according to a report produced by eMarketer in collaboration with Starcom MediaVest Group. Asia-Pacific will gain significant market share, with total media advertising spending in the region expected to reach $173.2 billion by 2014. During the same period, ad spending in North America is expected to grow just 7%, reaching $190.6 billion in 2014.
