    DIRECTV has unveiled a new DVR that gives users the ability to record five shows simultaneously and features Netflix-like suggestions for what to watch.   • NPD: U.S. consumers are ready to spend on holiday shopping
    More than three-quarters of U.S. consumers say they will spend the same as they did in 2011 or more during this year's holiday shopping, according to The NPD Group. The market research firm surveyed more than 3,600 Americans and found that two-thirds of the respondents plan to spend the same amount in 2012, while 10% will spend more than last year.
