    Airlines are bypassing global distribution system fees and using the Direct Connect model, which lets customers book through their host reservation systems. Some people say the GDS model doesn't let airlines sell ancillary services, which they need for extra revenue.     Brussels Airlines is aiming to slash costs by $130.9 million with its "Beyond 2012-2013" plan. The carrier says it will aim to phase out 12 Avro 100 jets, and the Avro RJ85s are already leaving the fleet though the carrier will replace some with new aircraft.
