  • Report: Small-pet market is on the rise
    The small-pet market in the U.S. is bouncing back from the recession, and birds, fish, reptiles and small mammals account for 116 million pets, according to a report from the market research firm Packaged Facts. Those pets are likely to belong to families with children, and they receive grooming as well as toys and other products, according to the report.     Nestle has announced a new pet food formula that's meant to help dogs keep up with their owners on runs. Purina Pro Plan Sport uses specific levels of protein and fat to help increase dogs' strength and endurance, and Nestle will promote the food through sports camps for dogs as well as races, runs and walks, the company said.
