- Comcast exec: Competition is sufficient to end exclusivity ban
Given current levels of competition, the timing is right for the Federal Communications Commission to end its prohibition on exclusive programming contracts, according to David Cohen, executive vice president of Comcast. The policy change, which takes effect on Oct. 5, isn't likely to cause "a lot of disruption or fundamental changes in the business model," especially for mature networks, Cohen said on a forthcoming episode of C-SPAN's "The Communicators." - Time Warner Cable says it's willing to share some sports with Google
Time Warner Cable is willing to provide "must-have" regional sports programming from its Metro Sports network in Kansas City to Google's new fiber TV service at "fair and reasonable prices," but will retain high school sports and other local programming for its own customers. Time Warner Cable stated its position in response to a Google filing with the Federal Communications Commission in which the online giant said it faced challenges in adding regional sports content for the fledgling service. - Cablevision adds CBS series to On Demand menu
Cablevision, with the addition of some CBS series to its Free On Demand offerings, now features content from the top four broadcast networks.
