  • DISH to offer "TV Everywhere" feature with Hopper set-tops
    DISH Network has teamed up with Sling Media to give users of its Hopper set-top box the ability to watch live programming on PCs, tablets and mobile devices, even outside the home. The feature will be standard for DISH customers, and is "the first product from any major pay-TV provider that gives users the built-in option to watch their entire channel lineup's live programming" on the go. Also, DISH is working on building out the Hopper's "What's Hot Now" feature to allow advertisers to bid in real time based on viewer-interest data.   • AT&T announces U-verse streaming service, home-monitoring system
    AT&T will launch Screen Pack, a $5 monthly streaming service that will house 1,500 films that U-verse TV subscribers can access from their TV set, computer or mobile device, the carrier said Monday. AT&T also detailed plans for its Digital Life wireless service for home security and control, saying will it will be introduced in eight U.S. cities in March, with more markets added every month.     Leading television set manufacturers have rolled out new smart TV models this week -- with their eyes squarely fixed on Apple, experts say. "The mythical Apple TV that's been widely talked about but never seems to appear is still on the back of everybody's minds," said Tim Alessi of LG Electronics. New sets include such advanced features as voice commands, seamless movement between Netflix and regular TV service, as well as on-screen guides that seemingly stem from wireless devices.
