- Decision on Fla. nuclear plant doesn't negate nuclear's importance
The decision to shut down the Crystal River nuclear plant in Florida offers a lesson about the consequences of poor engineering moves, not about the merits of nuclear energy, writes David Rossin, former president of the American Nuclear Society. The decision was not related to used nuclear fuel, "weaknesses in consumer protection" or "rate-setting aspects of statewide regulation," he argues.
