  • Quick gratification is a hallmark of searches via mobile
People using their devices for mobile searches appear to be in the mood for quick gratification, rather than being on the go, according to research by Google and Nielsen. The study found that 63% of actions traced back to mobile searches occurred in less than an hour of the search. Among purchase-related actions, more than half came in the form of a call, a visit to a store or a purchase. • Mobile is set to fuel growth in digital sales
E-commerce in the U.S. is expected to account for 8% of total retail sales this year, on the way to a 10% share by 2017, according to Forrester, with mobile one of the key factors driving growth. The 13% year-to-year growth in 2013 and a 10% compound annual growth rate after that "will be abetted by traditional stores' investments in Web businesses to support a multichannel strategy, the blistering pace of mobile device adoption and the fact that consumers are more comfortable with purchasing online," analyst Sucharita Mulpuru writes. • DAA rules for mobile privacy are expected soon
The Digital Advertising Alliance's privacy guidelines for mobile are expected to include consumer notification about online behavioral advertising and provision for consumers to opt out of allowing their information to be collected across applications. An opt-in provision for some types of information collecting is also expected, and advertisers may be asked to de-identify individuals after information is collected from their specific devices. The rules in final form may be revealed as early as next week, according to this article. MediaPost Communications/Online Media Daily (3/13) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
