- Lyondell plans NGL, ethylene projects in U.S.
LyondellBasell Industries announced U.S. petrochemical projects including a $430 million ethylene capacity expansion in Texas, a $200 million polyethylene plant and another $200 million for a natural gas liquids facility. "The availability of abundant supplies of natural gas and natural gas liquids from shale deposits is creating a tremendous advantage for U.S. manufacturers, and LyondellBasell is well positioned to seize this opportunity at our Gulf Coast and Midwest facilities," CEO James Gallogly said. - Calif. needs to study fracking, governor says
California needs to consider hydraulic fracturing for shale oil development, Gov. Jerry Brown said. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, California's Monterey shale play could contain more than 15 billion barrels of oil.
