  • Idaho hospice reaches settlement deal with HHS for HIPAA violation
    A settlement agreement of $50,000 was reached between Hospice of North Idaho and HHS' Office for Civil Rights that stemmed from a violation of the HIPAA security rule for smaller data breaches. The incident occurred when a laptop computer with the health data of 441 patients was lost in 2010.   • EMR system at N.Y. hospital includes patient portal
