Insurers must be creative in designing and marketing universal life even as the products' share of premium is increasing, writes Bill Aguayo of Insurance Technologies. Fixed-indexed universal life insurance and secondary-guarantee universal life products can be used to keep universal life alive and appealing in the market, Aguayo writes. - Seniors are overwhelmingly satisfied with MA plans, poll finds
A survey commissioned by AHIP shows that the vast majority of seniors are happy with their Medicare Advantage plans, with nine out of 10 expressing satisfaction. Seniors were also largely satisfied with the level of care they receive and their out-of-pocket expenses, but AHIP CEO and president Karen Ignagni warned that proposed additional cuts to the program put some seniors at risk of losing coverage. - Research documents a booming wellness market
Survey results released on Wednesday shows employers are investing more money on wellness-based incentives and programs per employee. Employers are planning to spend an average of $521 per employee this year, which is double the amount spent in 2009, and 77% of employers plan to offer wellness-based incentives this year, more than double the percentage who did the same in 2010. Among wellness-based incentives, the most popular are reduced premiums and cash rewards or gift cards. BenefitsPro.com
