    Virgin Australia will launch Invite+, a private lounge club for elite passengers such as celebrities, politicians and corporate leaders, this feature says.   • Fliers can bypass long waits at airports with new services
    Save time waiting in line at the airport, this feature says, by using immigration services such as Global Entry, which lets passengers check in at an electronic kiosk after a one-time background check. The Transportation Security Administration's PreCheck service is free, but open only to frequent fliers on American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. The company Clear requires iris scans and fingerprints before issuing a card that makes wait times go under five minutes.   • Airlines had record bag-handling performance in 2011
    In 2011, 99.1% of checked bags were delivered on time by airlines, a recent study by SITA shows. The figure represents a record in the eight years that SITA has been collecting data.     Nearly 200 airline professionals, content service providers and distributors attended the APEX TV Market Conference in Brighton, England, this week, the most participants ever garnered at this three-day event. The TVMC also had 50 booths, a record number for the conference. The speaker's presentations for the educational sessions held during the conference will be posted to the members' only section of the APEX website in one week.
