- Majority of quickservice chains wait to display calorie counts
Months ahead of a federal mandate that will require restaurants with more than 20 locations to display calorie content on menus, McDonald's announced it would immediately feature calorie content. Other chains such as Arby's, Waffle House and Chik-fil-A, however, are waiting to make the changes until next year until they feel more certain of the steps they need to take. "We simply do not want go ahead [sic] and make changes of what we 'think' will be required and then have to make a second change ... once we do know the specific requirements," Chick-fil-A spokesman Mark Baldwin said. - Chipotle tops list of favorite fast-casual Mexican chains
Chipotle Mexican Grill ranked first on a Market Force survey of consumers' favorite fast-casual Mexican chains, followed by Baja Fresh and Moe’s Southwest Grill. Taco Cabana, Qdoba, El Pollo Loco, Taco John’s, Taco Bell and Del Taco rounded out the top 10 in the survey of 7,600 U.S. consumers. Chipotle joins Fair Food Program: Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Grill became the 11th company to join the Coalition of Immokalee Workers' Fair Food Program on Thursday, after declining to join for six years. The initiative is aimed at improving working conditions for the Florida farm workers who pick tomatoes for the chain and others. The Denver Post
