  • Survey finds more confidence in animal-safe products
Consumers across the globe trust the safety of cosmetics that are not tested on animals more than they do conventionally tested cosmetics, according to a series of public opinion polls conducted by Humane Society International. The poll results were released in conjunction with the European Union's ban on products tested on animals. "Consumers are clearly concerned about animal welfare but our poll also reveals that they often have greater confidence in a product's safety if it has been tested using modern methods rather than outdated animal tests," said Troy Seidle, a campaign director with HSI. • Take control by getting rid of the word "balance"
The word "balance" should never come up when discussing the best way to meet the demands of work and family, Laura Vanderkam writes. "No one says they're unbalanced because they're not working enough, which means that achieving 'balance' must mean working less. Holding that out as desirable is problematic," she writes.
