    Katherine Lugar, the new president and CEO of AH&LA, says she plans to focus on effective communication between the organization and its members, stakeholders, consumers and the government to support grass-roots efforts.   • Hospitality Properties Trust, NH Hoteles sign $325M investment deal
    Hospitality Properties Trust has announced that it has reached a $325 million agreement with Spanish hotel firm NH Hoteles. The deal will include Hospitality Properties' acquisition of five NH Hoteles properties in Latin America with a total of 804 rooms. The hotels will remain under NH Hoteles management.   • Some hotels want guests to come "home," stay awhile
    Hotel suites may look a lot more like home, as hotels are designing them to be more comfortable with features to accommodate longer stays. Best Western is breaking into the suite segment, as other chains offer extended-stay options as well. "The rooms allow the guest to completely unpack and set up shop no matter how long you're going to be there," said Loren Nalewanski, vice president and global brand manager for TownePlace Suites by Marriott.
