Taco Bell beats its record for buzz with new taco launch
Last week's launch of Taco Bell's Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos was the most shared and discussed of any in Taco Bell history, according to company figures. Taco Bell began in January with a social media campaign to build buzz for the launch with sneak preview events announced on Facebook and Twitter and "epic deliveries" to select fans who talked about the launch. Taco Bell is also asking fans to share pictures of themselves trying the tacos for the first time, in exchange for a chance to have their image featured on a billboard in New York City's Times Square. Fandango to offer weekly chart of most buzz-worthy films
Fandango unveiled last week a tool that gauges buzz around movies using data from social media and Web traffic to produce a list of the films generating the most excitement from fans. The tool, called Fanticipation, is aimed at helping fans decide what to see based on social recommendations. Yappem debuts social network for brand fans with Big Mac promotion
McDonald's has partnered with startup Yappem to promote the Big Mac through Yappem's recently launched social network, which is built around rewarding consumers for talking about their brand experiences with others. Yappem employees handed out coupons for Big Macs at the South by Southwest interactive festival with a message encouraging users to post their thoughts about the sandwich in exchange for Yappem coins, which are redeemable for gift certificates.
