- Alex Bogusky will take SodaStream to its first Super Bowl
SodaStream International has purchased time in the upcoming Super Bowl, a first for the upstart brand, positioning the home soda dispenser against two of the game's biggest sponsors, Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The commercial will be created by Common, with agency co-founders Alex Bogusky and Rob Schuham expected to contribute. - Heart association: Social media could help fight childhood obesity
The American Heart Association has issued a scientific statement that says social media may become an important tool for fighting childhood obesity, but it noted that evidence from intervention studies to date is inconclusive. Jennifer Li, chairwoman of the group that wrote the statement, said studies do show parental involvement and more interaction with counselors and peers are linked to greater success for children who participated in online programs. - FSMA deadline escaping notice of foreign food suppliers
Many food facilities in China, Mexico and other foreign countries are unaware of or confused by the looming re-registration deadline for the Food Safety Modernization Act, according to Ben England of FDAImports, a regulations consultancy company. Registrations must be updated by Dec. 31 or foreign suppliers may find their goods are refused entry. "This is a worldwide problem.
