- TVA to install $1B pollution-control upgrades for Tenn. coal plant
A $1 billion emissions-reduction plan will be implemented at the Gallatin Fossil Plant in central Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Valley Authority. The coal plant's upgrades will help it meet the Environmental Protection Agency's emission standards, TVA said. About 90% to 95% of sulfur dioxide emissions will be removed, said Larry Nathan of TVA's generation construction unit. Nitrogen oxide levels will also be reduced. United Press International
