BYB Brands has expanded its Bean & Body Coffee line with the addition of vegan, coconut and horchata flavors. - Brioni's launches coffee with fiber
Brioni's Coffee, based in Glastonbury, Conn., has introduced Healthy Morning Coffee, with four grams of fiber per 12-ounce serving. - Mayorga sets organic coffee goal
Mayorga Coffee has set a goal of doubling sales of its organic coffee this year. "Moving to organic certified coffee encourages coffee farms to eliminate any harmful chemicals and pesticides from their soil, which is the source of their livelihood and an integral part of their ecosystem," said Martin Mayorga, founder of the company, which sells organic coffee at East Coast retailers including Whole Foods, Costco and Stop & Shop. - Beetroot can boost athletic performance, research says
A new study from St Louis University shows that athletes who eat beetroot right before a race post faster times than those who do not. This is due to the vegetables high nitrate content, which can increase muscle stamina and efficiency. "Because whole vegetables have been shown to have health benefits, whereas nitrates from other sources may have detrimental health effects, it would be prudent for individuals seeking performance benefits to obtain nitrates from whole vegetables, such as beetroot," says lead author of the study Margaret Murphy. Xango has shifted from glass to plastic packaging made by Berry Plastics and distributed by Berlin Packaging for its mangosteen beverage, Xango Juice.
