- GE adds turbine-part inspection to inspection orders
General Electric has added to its safety inspection directive ordered earlier this week by having airlines check the installation of a specific turbine nozzle in addition to checking the turbine itself. The inspection orders came after a GEnx engine powering a Boeing 747-8 freighter failed in Shanghai in September. Reuters

- EU may be running out of time to avoid clashes over emissions
The European Union has only a few weeks to address the risk of major clashes with other nations over its emissions standards plan, says Jonathon Counsell, British Airways head of environment. Counsell, who was speaking at a conference last week, warned that if the EU doesn't act quickly to address concerns, airlines are at the risk of having aircraft impounded. ABTN.co.uk (U.K.)

- TSA adds privacy-friendly body scanners at Boston airport
The Transportation Security Administration has added new body scanners at Logan International Airport in Boston. The scanners don't include passenger-specific images, but instead identify anomalies such as guns and bombs. The 27 new scanners will replace 17 older scanners. Boston Herald
