- DuPont building $200M cellulosic ethanol plant in Iowa
Crews have started preliminary work on DuPont Industrial Biosciences' new $200 million cellulosic ethanol plant in Iowa. The refinery can process 30 million gallons, or more than 113 million liters, of the biofuel annually and is expected to be operational in mid-2014. - Chemical firms are leaders in using risk analytics
Actively managing operational risks is key for chemical producers, which do so at higher rates than other industries, according to an Accenture survey. AOCS: Call for papers and posters
AOCS has issued the call for papers and posters for the XV Latin American Congress and Exhibition on Fats and Oils. Organized jointly by CORCHIGA (Corporación Chilena de Grasas y Aceites) and AOCS, the meeting will be held at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Santiago, Chile, on Aug. 20 to 23. Visit the meeting website for a list of topics and full submission guidelines. The submission deadline is Jan. 4.
