- Virtual models wear H&M's looks online
Fashion retailers including H&M and Vente-Privee use technology from Stockholm-based Looklet to display their styles in catalogs and online using virtual models, which lets them save money and time on photo shoots. - Coach thinks outside the bag
Coach reported slower holidays and a 2% drop in same-store sales in North America, driven by growing competition in the designer bag market that fueled deeper discounting. The luxury brand has a plan to kick things back into growth mode, starting with a relaunch of 170 in-store shoe departments and expanding the strategy to include men's and women's apparel, watches and jewelry, the company said. Executives at consumer packaged goods companies believe club stores like Costco and Sam's Club will gain market share in the coming years, yet they have not developed strategies for capturing that growth, a Deloitte study finds. “A number of these companies are still trying to throw things at the wall and see what sticks," said Rich Nanda, a principal in Deloitte’s consumer products practice. "And the batting average with that approach is pretty low.” MediaPost Communications
