- Intel may announce limited-edition chips for ultrabooks, tablets
Intel is expected to offer more insight into its "Ivy Bridge" processor developments next week and possibly unveil laptops and tablets with limited-run microprocessors. The new chips, with a power-efficiency rating of less than 10 watts, will lead to new ultrabook designs, an Intel spokesman said. CNET

- HP is past halfway point for latest job cuts
Hewlett-Packard says it had reduced its global workforce by 5% as of Oct. 31, cutting about 17,800 jobs, putting it more than halfway toward its goal of reducing manpower by 8.3% by the end of 2014. The tech vendor also is investigating General Motors' hiring of two former HP managers. Computerworld
