  • Sequestration to cut Medicare EHR payments
    Sequestration will reduce the EHR incentive payments going to Medicare providers by 2%, starting April 1. On average, the cuts would cost Medicare-only hospitals, which are averaging $1.87 million in incentive payments, about $37,500, and physicians receiving Medicare EHR incentives would lose a few hundred dollars on average.   • ICD-10 transition to move forward, CMS says
    CMS announced that the shift to ICD-10 codes will continue without additional delays, meaning providers must begin using the new codes Oct. 1, 2014. "Many in the health industry are under way with the necessary system changes to transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10.
