- Report: Global aviation industry supports 56.6M jobs
The Air Transport Action Group has released an Oxford Economics analysis organization report that puts the total number of global jobs supported by the aviation industry at 56.6 million. Nearly 18 million are employed directly by industry and industry suppliers, 4.4 million by spending from industry employees, and the rest owing to tourism made possible by air transport. The gross domestic product of the global industry totals $2.2 trillion, or the equivalent of the 19th-largest economy in the world. Reuters

- Business is booming at Texas' Stinson Municipal Airport
The 96-year-old Stinson Municipal Airport in Texas is enjoying a rebirth of sorts, thanks to an improving economy fueled by energy production at a nearby shale formation. General aviation is down some at the nation's 12th-busiest airport employing non-FAA controllers, but not as far as at most other smaller airports. "We're very optimistic about it. - New Tennessee GA airport is on track
The push is on for a general aviation airport in the Heritage Center Industrial Park in Tennessee. The airport would improve jobs, tourism, technology and research, backers say. - Angel Flight pilot gets "great feeling" transporting patients
The nonprofit Angel Flight program of volunteers is earning its wings by flying those in need to distant medical care. Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic has 630 pilots who fly the region, covering Virginia to Ohio and Pennsylvania. "It's really just a great feeling to be able to do something good with this skill we have of being able to fly," said Angel Flight pilot Peter Winik. The Washington Post
