  • Business is booming at Texas' Stinson Municipal Airport
The 96-year-old Stinson Municipal Airport in Texas is enjoying a rebirth of sorts, thanks to an improving economy fueled by energy production at a nearby shale formation. General aviation is down some at the nation's 12th-busiest airport employing non-FAA controllers, but not as far as at most other smaller airports. "We're very optimistic about it. Nothing has indicated it would go anywhere but in a positive direction," said Tim O'Krongley, Stinson's assistant aviation director. • New Tennessee GA airport is on track
The push is on for a general aviation airport in the Heritage Center Industrial Park in Tennessee. The airport would improve jobs, tourism, technology and research, backers say.
