  • Marriott swings to $143 million profit in Q3
    Marriott International reported earnings of $143 million during its fiscal third quarter, bouncing back from a $179 million loss during the same period last year and surpassing analyst forecasts. Revenue during the quarter dropped to $2.73 billion from $2.87 billion a year earlier, as revenue per available room at its North America hotels jumped 6.8%, the hotel firm says.   • Blackstone Group envisions globalization for Motel 6, Studio 6 brands
    Blackstone Group says it is looking to expand its newly acquired brands Motel 6 and Studio 6 across North America and to international markets. The company just concluded its $1.9 billion purchase of the two budget brands from Accor. Company executives say the brands' strong capacity for conversion projects could help accelerate its growth.
