  • Study: H1N1 flu shot slightly upped risk of Guillain-Barre syndrome
    People who received the H1N1 influenza vaccine in 2009 had a slightly higher risk than the general population of developing Guillain-Barre syndrome, according to a study published in The Lancet. Researchers looked at data from 23 million people in the U.S. who received the H1N1 flu shot during the 2009 outbreak and found that 77 developed Guillain-Barre syndrome within 91 days of receiving the vaccine.   • Graveyard shift linked to higher ovarian cancer risk in study
    Women who worked night shifts were 49% and 24% more likely than day-shift workers to develop early-stage ovarian cancer and advanced ovarian cancer, respectively, according to a study in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
