American Airlines partner to stop flying to Puerto Rico: An American Airlines commuter partner will end service to San Juan, Puerto Rico, in April. Executive Airlines serves San Juan with turboprop aircraft under the American Eagle moniker. Boeing has offered heftier raises to its engineers as part of negotiations with its engineering union. Engineers would be eligible for annual raises of up to 5% and technical workers would be eligible for raises of up to 4% under the new offer to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace. Airlines worked together with Boeing to ensure that the 787 Dreamliners flew on schedule recently. All Nippon Airways turned to Boeing for spare parts when its inaugural flight from Seattle to Tokyo was delayed. - USDA awards $25M in grants to 4 bioenergy research projects
The Department of Agriculture awarded grants amounting to $25 million to four projects that aim to develop fuel and other products from biomass. Among those awarded the grants was the USDA's Agricultural Research Service, Eastern Regional Research Center in Pennsylvania, which was awarded $6,865,942 for developing technology to convert forest residues, horse manure, switchgrass and other perennial grasses into biofuels and chemicals on the farm.
