- Cloud pressures set to drive systems integration market growth
Government and private industry will continue to seek ways to make their IT systems more seamless, lean and efficient in the coming years as on-demand services become a priority, a report by Global Industry Analysts finds. As a consequence, the demand for system integration will increase 5.15% per year through 2017, the report found. The growth will be pushed by private companies looking to develop their own cloud applications to make IT services more manageable. The federal government is also expected to revamp its IT service to rein in its budget. ZDNet/Service Oriented blog

Mitel plans to start providing its clients with private cloud infrastructure using their own data centers. The 2012 version of the Cisco Global Cloud Networking Survey found that almost 4 in 10 IT managers are fearful of the prospect of dealing with a new cloud system -- to the point that they'd rather do such joyless activities as a root canal or tax preparation. More than three-quarters say their sensitive data is likely to encounter a serious security problem during the transfer to the cloud. While more than half of those making the move to the cloud said they were doing so to improve performance, 41% said they were adopting the technology because so many other companies are doing so. An inspiring, positive workplace is a major asset for any company -- but it's all too easy for bosses to allow negativity to take over, say Lisa Zigarmi and S. Chris Edmonds.
