- Another Mariano's opens near downtown Chicago
A Mariano's Fresh Market store has opened in the West Loop of Chicago, an area that is seeing increasing grocery competition, including Dominick's and Wal-Mart Stores Neighborhood Market. Bob Mariano, CEO of Mariano's parent Roundy's Supermarkets, is also planning a store in the South Loop, where there is even more competition. - Sandy forces Fresh Grocer to postpone opening
Because of superstorm Sandy, The Fresh Grocer is moving the opening of a store in New Brunswick, N.J., from Friday to Monday. "We ask that you please join us in keeping those who have been affected by Sandy in your thoughts and prayers," President and CEO Patrick Burns said. A study in the journal Flavour revealed drinks with thicker viscosity may help boost satiety and sustain it for longer periods compared with thinner drinks.
