  • Exec: Biofuels sector now focused on operational improvements
The biofuels industry has left the era of talking about "game-changing inventions" and entered "what one might call the really hard yards" of improving operational output, BP Biofuels CEO Philip New said during a keynote address at the World Biofuels Markets. "If we have grown out of the phase of hyping step-change innovations, we are now seeing innovation in the smaller things; the incremental improvements that mean the difference between business survival and failure," New said. • Sequestration scenarios for air-traffic controllers described
As a result of budget cuts from sequestration, the Federal Aviation Administration has instituted a hiring freeze for air-traffic controllers. The Reason Foundation's Robert Poole said the FAA should end overnight shifts at 100 "zombie towers," which don't meet the FAA's minimum traffic standards, instead of imposing a hiring freeze. • Leaders must be creators
A good leader is a creator and not just a critic, Mike Figliuolo writes. This means not stopping simply with your opinion. "Give people the coaching, feedback, and resources to improve their average pieces of junk," he writes. "Identify opportunities to connect ideas and people so they can build something greater. Be part of the solution rather than simply pointing out the problem." ThoughtLeaders blog (3/11) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
